I heard the poem first in an episode of The Blacklist. I went back and heard it again, and again and again….

I had to have it on my blog , for all the moments to go back and read the blog entries.

It gives me strength- the poem – it strengthens my will power to move forward, to take charge, make tough decisions and be brave enough to face the consequences. Afterall, i am the master of my fate, i am the captain of my soul!

Out of the night that covers me,
Black as the Pit from pole to pole,
I thank whatever gods may be
For my unconquerable soul.

In the fell clutch of circumstance
I have not winced nor cried aloud.
Under the bludgeonings of chance
My head is bloody, but unbowed.

Beyond this place of wrath and tears
Looms but the Horror of the shade,
And yet the menace of the years
Finds, and shall find, me unafraid.

It matters not how strait the gate,
How charged with punishments the scroll.
I am the master of my fate:
I am the captain of my soul.

~ William Ernest Henley

Sunsets, like childhood, are viewed with wonder not just because they are beautiful but because they are fleeting – Richard Paul Evans

Smile, you’re beautiful!

“Today, give a stranger one of your smiles. It might be the only sunshine he sees all day.” ~ P.S. I Love You

Human expressions are beautiful. Scientifically based on the 6 basic expressions of happiness, surprise, anger, sadness, fear, and disgust, they can be further combined into 20 sentiments – the 6 basic expressions, happily surprised, happily disgusted, sadly fearful, sadly angry, etc etc etc……

Well, i did type in the full list, but all 20 of them is too much to write on the blog. I couldn’t go through it myself. So, in all probability, no one else will. but you get an idea of the possible combos… any ideas on the balance 10 ? It can be a nice mind exercise! OR you can simply google it (as did i)..

Even if i am in any of these 6 basic expressions or 14 of the balance sentiments, i am trying, really hard to mask these expressions and show only one on my face. A smile…

Yes, there may be different kinds of smiles – happy smile, “i know” smile, loving smile, flirty smile, “i told you so” smile, sad smile, “what rubbish are you talking” smile, “i agree with you” smile, ” you look great” smile.., “Hey there stranger” smile (No, i didn’t google these… ).

When you smile, only those who are close to you will understand the sentiment behind it.. for everyone else, it may just compel them to smile back….

Why do I want to strive for it?

Well, stand in front of the mirror and see yourself. Now curve up those corners of your mouth and give your best smile – and look at yourself.

Imagine, seeing this beauty all around you. The world as is today needs us to do a lot of things to make it a better place. i think this one thing could be the easiest one we can contribute towards making it one.

What if….?

“What” and “If” are two words as non-threatening as words can be. But put them together side-by-side and they have the power to haunt you for the rest of your life: What if? What if? What if?

I don’t know how your story ended but if what you felt then was true love, then it’s never too late. If it was true then, why wouldn’t it be true now? You need only the courage to follow your heart. I don’t know what a love like Juliet’s feels like: love to leave loved ones for, love to cross oceans for, but I’d like to believe if I ever were to feel it, that I’d have the courage to seize it. ~ Letters to Juliet
